Inviz - natural zein coatings

POET INVIZ^TM zein is a non-toxic, harmless and edible protein that is soluble in alcohols and other solvents, but only slightly soluble in water. INVIZ^TM zein is extracted from POET's Dakota Gold® HP^TM distillers grains and used as a biobased alternative to petroleum based films, packaging, adhesives, coatings and glazes.

Zein is extracted from the ethanol co-products corn gluten meal and distiller's grains, making zein a natural product. Historically zein has been utilized in several different areas including the food and pharmaceutical industries. Zein has also been used as biodegradable gum base, films and packaging, adhesives, edible hay bale wrappers, and pill coatings.
